Let’s face it. Social media is here to stay… at least until the next marketing fad comes around. Everywhere you look what was once a place for individuals to spout off about where they were at any given moment and who they were with, is now a haven for businesses to market their wares. Social media is a goldmine for worldwide exposure. It’s instantaneous and best of all, it’s CHEAP. It costs nothing to have a Twitter and Facebook account. But where do you start?
Keeping up with Social Media is a full time job. There are many business who hire individuals to market just on these sites. Yep. Can you imagine getting hired to play on Facebook and Twitter all day? Talk about a sweet job! But it’s not all sunshine and roses. The hard part is getting your name out there, getting people to follow you and most of all getting them to watch what it is that you have to say and what you have to offer.
I have been on social media longer than it’s been called Social Media. When I started designing websites in 1995, “social media” came in the form of message boards. You looked for a topic that interested you and then you’d talk about it. You never know who you’ll “run into” in these places or who your message will reach. Personally, I actually met my husband in an online chat room in 1995. We were pioneers of the online singles dating scene! So, with that being said, I’ve been at this a while.
